Windows 10 and Hardware Refresh Project Governance

Assisting a Pan European heavy manufacturing company with a major IT transformation project to migrate 15,000 devices to Windows 10.

APPtechnology was approached by a Pan European heavy manufacturing company to assist their major IT transformation projects [singular]. The goal of the project was to migrate 15,000 devices to Windows 10 and refresh all out of date and unsupported hardware in the estate. Alongside this, there were several other goals that were in scope for the project: -

• Adoption of Microsoft Endpoint Manager
• Adoption of Autopilot for an out-of-the-box end user experience
• Review and testing of 1,200 applications in the estate
• Pre-staging of applications for deployment via hardware partner

APPtechnology was brought in to provide a governance and project management layer alongside a large IT outsourcer delivering the project.

 APPtechnology provided a lean team that provided senior project management as well as user and hardware specialist to help drive and coordinate the migration activities. Through close working with the customer and IT service provider, we were able to establish controls around the project and move it forward into delivery mode.

 There were a few challenges along the way. However, with close collaboration, the project was successfully delivered. We were proud to have been part of this journey in delivering a new way of working environment for a complex heavy manufacturing organisation.
